TMJ/TMD - Teeth Grinding
Got Stress???
Don't worry we all
do
Did you know that there are two types of stress?
Good stress (getting married, moving to a new house, starting a new job, exercising)
Bad stress (losing a job, money issues, family issues, too many to list on one page)
TMJ/TMD is one of the newest fields in dentistry. Without being too technical it is the study of how the jaw works with (or fails to work together) with all of muscles and joints that connect them all. If the muscles and joints don't work together properly this can directly lead to many physiological problems such as: jaw popping, headaches, chronic headaches, migraines, frequent jaw pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, clicking or popping in the jaw joint (when talking or chewing food), and some have reported ringing in their ears.
More often than not, TMJ/TMD cases are overlooked or misdiagnosed by normal physicians, sometimes you have to get 2nd and 3rd opinions to narrow down the possible problem. While this is happening you are still suffering day in and day out. Medical journals have reported that some patients have found the appliances as an remedy for their chronic headaches and other symptoms practically overnight. If you think that you suffer from a TMJ/TMD disorder, ask yourself these few questions:
1) Do your ears feel muffled or clogged?
2) Does your jaw hurt or make clicking noises when chewing or talking?
3) Do you suffer from pain in the face, jaw, neck or shoulders that you and your physician cannot find a solution to?
4) Do you ever experience moments in which your jaw feels similar to lockjaw or the opposite (feeling open)?
5) Do you feel that your lower and upper teeth do not fit together like they used to?
6) Do you wake up with your jaw feeling sore and or suffer from morning headaches?
If you have answered "yes" to one or more of these questions, we invite you in for a no pressure consultation for more information and discuss possible treatments and finally together we can solve your pain and suffering once and for all.
